General AFP questions

Hey, im wondering if anyone can help me. I do alot of sampling and vocal warping using the audio file processor, but im wondering, is there is a way i can pitch up (or down) a .wav sample without using audacity and retain the same tempo? Is there away i can do a stutter effect more efficiently using the afp?

Also, kind of a dumb question, but what is the difference between sync, linear, ect on the drop down menu next the open file button on the audio file processor?

Some of my work, relying heavily on the afp: https://soundcloud.com/cubbyk/an-alpaca

Check the top of the audio file processor.
There is a pitch knob there. Turn it and see how if it works for you. :)

There is an icon symbol with two life bars, that's located at the center of the plugin, to the far right.
That enables stutter mode. :)

Here is a link to the Lmms wiki, that answers alot of your questions, on the Audio File Processor.

No. pure and blunt, im afraid

høhøe - how efficiently are you doing it now :?)
There is no setting that can make like repeats in the actual pass, but if you explain what you like, there may be some way

That is 'technical' stuff :P
Imagine a waveform. There are a number of values that defines this form. So what about values that are not defined? How should those values be chosen. For that a math-method called interpolation is used. You could think of that as how to 'guess' the next best value for a certain 'shape', and it really has to do with quality differences between sounds in 8 bit, and 'better' in higher bitrates. You should be able to hear a difference if you load a typical 8-bit sample, and try the different interpolation-modes, but it must be pure 8-bit
Thanks! I have been doing a stutter by breaking up my notation in the piano roll and using the continue playback across notes feature, but i cant seem to wrap my head around or make good use of the actual stutter effect.

I assumed as much that sync and linear had to do with interpolation but i wasnt sure so ive just basically been guessing everytime i load a sample.

Thanks for the help. So If i want pitched sampled vocals i am gonna need to just continue going between lmms and adacity? Like i mean, thats ok and its been working, i just assumed i was missing something and making my workflow more difficult.

Yep. I sometimes have Audacity and Lmms open at the same time, when I'm making audio samples to be used in Lmms.
And I use Lmms to test them and see if they're loud enough, or sound good. :)

Yep. Quite understandable.
That's what the Forums are here for. To ask questions and find out info, on Lmms music related stuff etc.
Ask away. :D
