Hi, I just dowloaded LMMS but apparently the soundfont player is not in my instrument plugins list. I looked around online and it said that I had to change the default soundfont file in settings - paths tab, but I can't find that option. Help?

I believe its also listed in wiki, but sorry.
There is some improvements focused on MAC, so you should not drop lmms, but wait for our new release

Try the
Audio File Processor.
If any of your instrument samples are
wav. or
ogg. you'll be able to open it, in Audio File Processor.

That will not work, because of length against pitch, unless you create a whole sample pack of correct lenght-to-pitch samples, with audacity.
You 'can' use a sample & AFP, but only with extreme short audio-samples (msekd samples)

So... I'm pretty sure that wasn't an answer to my question of "Is there a way for me to install instrument samples? "

No, not you do not create a pitch-perfect sample library in a software like audacity, but i do not know if there is a MAC version. If not you have to get a MAC program that can do the same. Here you should ask for assistance on a MAC music forum, cause i do not know how this is done by MAC users.
We are in dire need of MAC knowledge / A MAC superuser here on our board. There are several MAC questions that never has answered
