Two things would really be helpful with the workflow.

1. I would like to combine instruments such that both instruments are on the same track, essentially. (is there already any way to do this?)

2. I would like to view multiple instruments/tracks on the piano roll at the same time.

Use the beat/bassline editor. You can create a track, the go to the b+b menue and add instruments.

Create a Beat/Bassline track.

2. Step

Add notes and other stuff to your Beat+Bassline track.
