When I make a bass, I get a click every time it plays a new note. I've tried making the notes finish a beat before so there is a gap in between notes, but I still get a click sound.

What instrument/preset/sample are you using ? Clicking can be caused by the attack time of the envelope being too fast, you could try backing it off a bit. But it could be all sorts of other things too.

If you're using samples then the click may even be in the sample but slowing the attack could still help.
