LMMS gets blocked by my antivirus

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hey, guys! So I was going to do some things with LMMS like I always do, and all of a sudden, my antivirus acts up saying that there's a virus in LMMS, so it removed it, and now LMMS can't start up. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and I can't download it because my antivirus blocks it. Can someone explain?

The LMMS 1.1.3 version can go through with no problems, but the LMMS 1.1.9 beta version gets blocked. I need the LMMS 1.1.9 beta because it has a lot of things that 1.1.3 doesn't have.

I use Avast Free antivirus btw.

Hi Cry5tle.
I used Avast, on my old cool laptop and had a similar problem.
Those problems you mentioned, might be caused, because your Avast Shield is on. :geek:
Try disabling the Avast Shield, when downloading or installing Lmms. :)

I hope that helps.

Also, you might want to make Avast ignore Lmms.
There is supposed to be an option, where you can make the Avast Shield, ignore certain software programs including files too. :D

Hopefully you get through.
Tell us what happens next. :)

Those 'things' Did they include non-lmms plugins like VSTs or soundfiles from other peeps?
If so, you may indeed have a virus!
Ifyou on the other got a virus scare from native official lmms release, then it is a false positive, and you can ask your virus software to ignore.

Actually, the file that got removed was libsoundio.dll and that file is an important component to LMMS. I'll try to report it as a false positive anyways :)

I see two potential workarounds here,
1) Switch to Qihoo 360 or Panda Free Antivirus (both of which are free) and ask a fellow LMMSer for the .dll if it is gone (GPL would allow them to give it to you gratis)
2) Open a second user profile on your computer and don't run it Avast on it.
Hope you can getb bacl
Hey guys! It's resolved!

I reported it as a false positive and they removed it from their database. All I had to do was update my definitions and everything went fine. I got my LMMS back, and I'll be posting more music on my SoundCloud. soundcloud.com/cry5tle

Yay!
Good to hear that you got through. :)
