Unwanted tones in Triple OSC

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I'm not posting this on GItHub because I'm not sure if I'm ignorant about this, or whether this is actually a problem. I've noticed that certain oscillator settings in the 3xOsc produce this unmusical background tone between 2000-4000 Khz. and it mostly seems to occur when playing higher notes. You can replicate this yourself by muting Osc's 2 and 3 and playing a square wave in one. Do you hear it? No amount of filtering or eq'ing seems to get rid of this without totally destroying the sound.
I made this little project of several different instances of this if you want to check it out: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3Xfh ... k1zNFF6N3c
Is this a problem with the oscillator, or is this just what happens under those settings? THX
God Bless and good day
Also have encountered this in monstro. Hrm

I think your problem is resonance.
When an oscillation is influenced by excessive resonance, it can create artefacts. In wave dynamics that could lead to 'standing waves'. In sound-generation, that comes out as disharmonious 'overtones' /vibrations /hiss /clippings

Try to reduce resonance, and see if that feels better.

nb. Remember that you only can inspect pure sine
If you use a spectrum analyser like Voxengo's Span (free) you can see exactly what frequencies are being produced. A square wave should have only odd harmonics of the base frequency (3 times, 5 times, 7 times etc). Perhaps a picture of the spectrum for a specific note that's causing the problem would help with interpreting the problem.

Oscillators in LMMS are not band-limited, so they produce aliasing. Simple as that.

Not Sure if I'm misunderstanding here, but this happens even without a filter. Not sure how I'd do that then

Ah, so I am ignorant. Thank you for clarifying sir. Is there a fix for this in the foreseeable future, or is this how it's just going to be?

Bandlimited waveforms are available in Monstro and LB302 (the four options slightly separate from the others), but the developer who implemented them didn't make them available in TripleOscillator for whatever reason. Technically it's not impossible, but not a priority right now.

Oh, and...

Well, if the power cord for my old/new Dell latitude comes and it works, I might just try to fix that myself...

That's not your decision to make.

Exactly! Religion has no place on a public forum.

Both of you do us all a favor and don't make an issue out of something so utterly stupid to argue about.

@grejppi, what does it matter if he said "god bless"? It's a common phrase. It's not like @mrlmmsguy was shoving religion down your throat; if anything he was just wishing you well. It goes two ways. If you don't want people shoving religion in your face, don't shove atheistic/agnostic beliefs in theirs; or for that matter, don't force someone to not say common phrases simply because it mentions something you don't believe in yourself. It's called mutual respect and tolerance, and it's a rare quality to find in people these days.

That being said, you are right about religion having no place on the LMMS support forums. The LMMS forums should be used for LMMS related topics--not for fronting unrelated personal beliefs (both positive or negative).

Now keep it friendly and LMMS related guys. I'd rather not see the forums turn into a religious users vs. non-religious users battleground.
