Sly Cooper - A Deadly Dance (phase 1 remake)

Tried remaking the first battle part of a boss fight song used in my favorite PS2 game called "Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus". It only took a few hours, and was all done by ear.

The original for comparison:

It ends at 1:56, or at least it keeps going but those parts I didn't remake.

Nice work!
Remaking is sometimes a good way to get to know a 'tool', like lmms, but remakes are perhaps even more interesting, when the remake is quite different from the original? It would be interesting to hear a new interpretation of the piece, with new instruments, and more of YOU in it :)

A few things in respect to the render. It does sound (and look) 'low' in dB. You use the mixer? right?
Du enhance your instruments, so they uses the 'spread' fully.
One way of enhancement is:

Did you remake the piece without a midi or with a midi?

Thanks so much! Without a MIDI whatsoever. I played the song many times, and tried to "hear" the pitches of the notes, and then recreate the melodies in the piano roll. I never messed with the mixer. I usually try and even out the instruments so they sound ok, though I usually fail to do so.

Sly Cooper, very good game.
Lots of sneaky Raccoons. 8-)

This remake is nice.
It really puts you in the mood of the game. :)
Good use of Dsk Overture and other sounds.
Dsk instruments are cool. I use them too.

You did a very good job, recreating one of this games OST's. 8-)

WOW!
That makes you a genius. You must have perfect pitch-hearing, and that is seriously rare!!

THAT is however a mistake!
You should ALWAYS allocate each track to its own special Mixer-channel!!

LMMS architecture will make the song sound better, when everything is allocated to mixer-channels. You do not have to change anything in mixer, but i strongly advise to USE mixer, and allocate each track in the project to their own channels -Always!

Thanks very much :) I just think I did what you asked. I put each instrument on their own separate mixer channel, correct? I went and put the volumes of the instruments back to 100 each, and then put them all on their own channels, and kept them at the default value. Is that correct? If so, I'll repost it.

I put all of my instruments on separate mixer channels. You leave the little volume knob beside the instrument at 100% and only change the volume with the mixer channel slider. The current soundtrack I'm working on has 40 instrument tracks already, so it makes it a whole lot easier to mix the song when each instrument is on its own mixer channel. I don't know whether you can pan instruments from the mixer channel, so I always just use the little knob on the instrument track itself.
