mapping keyboard keys to samples

Hi,
I have some samples, and I want to be able to trigger them with my midi keyboard.
I'd like each sample to start playing when a certain key on the keyboard is hit.
Is this possible?
Thanks.

Sorry, you can't do that. A MIDI keyboard can only use one output channel at a time, the keys just change the pitch. A launchpad might be able to do that, but you'll have to ask admin.
God Bless and good day

LMMS doesn't support it directly but you can easily do it with a MIDI keyboard if you use one of many free sampler VSTs like TX16Wx or Grace. They almost all support mapping a different sample to each key or to groups of keys. I can't remember which ones work with LMMS but there are plenty of free samplers around to try.

It's not an odd thing to want to do because that's how pretty much every drum set up works, kick sample on one key, snare on another etc.
