Running VST's in LMMS

What do you guys feel is the best way to efficiently run vst's inside the lmms program? I use windows dell, with intel core. My processor seems to be slightly under powered, but that's besides the point. Any tips on making VST's run better inside LMMS?

That's my problem too. I need some VSTs for mixing process so I don't have to export wavs to another software.

And i can see that you are new in our forum, so-
Welcome to the forum musicdream! First, For you, all important links:
http://lmms.io/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4740
And a few rules for posting and using the right sub-forum :)

Using VSTs -both instruments, and effects, are quite simple.
There are however a few VSTs instruments, and unfortunately quite a lot of effects, that does not work !

Here you can read all about how to use VSTs
Instruments:
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Working_with_VSTs

Effects:
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Wo ... Ts_effects

The VST i strongly recommend is Synth1
http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/
Not only vert efficient in lmms, but there are ~million free presets online

In case either of you have problems with a specific VST, do check the DB
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Tested_VSTs

And see if its a know issue, for your OS.

Otherwise, please post your:
* OS (+service-pack-ver)
* lmms vers
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most imortant)
* lmms sound device chosen
* if any -screenshots of error
* names and best download links of the failing vst's

Hi. :D
Musikbear said it best. Synth 1 is your best friend here. :D
It can make all sorts of powerful yet cool sounds.

Also, musikbear provided alot of good links. So don't forget to check them out dudes.
And, on another note, check out the 1st wiki link musikbear provided, concerning Vst's.
That might help you/both of you.

Also, welcome to the Lmms Forums BoiPutThatCandyBack and musicdream. 8-)

Hi, thanks for the welcoming! I'm a new member, I use LMMS for years but this is the first time I join the forum.

Anyway, I always have more than 20 instruments. Each track requires at least 3 effects such as eq, compressor, reverb, etc. Will also put effects on the final master. Most of these VST effects are from external source. They worked but it seems that the effects consume too much cpu.

I also composes music other than EM and EDM, so sometimes I need the instrument to be as realistic as it can.

If push comes to shove, you could probably expand your computer's memory. But there aren't any setting I've encountered that allow VST's to run more efficiently. And, on a side note, with the exception of bitcrushing and autotuning, I have found that most other mixing and FX can be done natively (and thereby more efficiently) inside LMMS.
Hope this helps.

Some VSTs have built-in options that allow you to adjust their performance according to your computer specs. For example, Massive has the Eco option. When it comes to VST synths, CPU power is the most important.
