What do you use in making growls in dubstep/noisy electro?

Questions about producing? Ask them here.
Hi guys, I'm asking. New member here :) sorry if the question should not be in production

(1) What plug-ins you use in making growls like in modern dubstep/noisy electro, like "OOOOAAAIIIIIIII", "WAAAAWAAAWAAWW", etc. :D

(2)Are some growls (created in zasfx, if possible) are just like the "yiee" and "ioioioi..." sample presets in zasfx and added am/fm frequencies?

Welcome to the forum vortexsupernova! First, For you, all important links:

And a few rules for posting and using the right sub-forum :)

From your question i can see you already knows about zasfx and also synthesis, and yes growls are mostly frequency slides modulated with FM.

Zasfx is good. I have made tutorials on using this plugin, and also about getting some growl-sounds out of vovels and various filters

understanding filters:

Another instrumnet that must be mentioned is Synth1. Here you have controls over frequencies and FM amount, but perhaps most important: Presets!
Do a search for dubstep-growls and Synth1, and you will find loads of them, ready made. I'm not saying that you 'just should use them, but they are great for learning about making them. Study, modify, and learn :) Do scan dl for vira

Alternately, you could just read this: It's really easy getting a basic talker bass in LMMS. Just mix a couple square waves in the triple OSC. Add a decimater and set the sample rate to around 1800 Hz, than automate a lowpass filter between 1 to 1000 HZ while playing a note. Upwards slope is yuy, down is uy. Tada! Season to taste

Thank you another guy, this will also help! This will be on my first list because zasfx consumes a lot of ram (the computer I'm using is old, I don't have my own PC). Would try both of your methods, you guys are awesome!

Don't worry. When it comes to old PC's, Synth 1 is your best friend here. :D
Because it consumes, way less CPU power. So enjoy. 8-)

Thank you very muuuch! Buuut what is Synth 1? I've read a forum thread where Synth 1 is mentioned but I don't have a real idea about it. Is it a VST plugin?

Yes it is! :D
Synth 1 is a cool VST plugin, that consumes less CPU power and makes tons of cool sounds. 8-)
It's also good for old PC's, that are not so powerful.
There are tons of free Synth 1 presets, on the internet. :D
And it's made by Japanese too.
Here is the download link. http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/#down
Enjoy! 8-)

I was able to make a growl of sorts in ZASFx, but I suppose it falls on the individual to decide whether or not they like it. You can find the song it belongs to here: https://soundcloud.com/davisjacobym/torvus-depths

Good growl. Now you do not say how you did use zasfx for this, but i have made some tuts on using the deep filter settings in zasfx, and i believe your growl could be formant-based?
