A little question about audio quality

Hi users!
I recently uploaded my new track "Thunder" and exported it in LMMS with 320 kBit/s and Interpolation the best. I edited the song in audacity and exported it in an .ogg File. When I listened to the .ogg file I didn't hear any quality loss. So I uploaded it on soundcloud and the whole track sounds a bit less quality - could the interpolation setting cause that?

SoundCloud streams uploaded files in 128 kBit/s. SC stream quality is a often disputed point. Some people want higher quality streaming, like 192 kBit/s, and I agree.

If were talking mp3 I vote 320 kb/sec.

You mean I should convert my file to mp3 with 320 kb/sec?

Nope the problem is not at you're end.
If Soundcloud uses 128 kbs mp3, I vote for them to use 320 kb/s.
I have ripped music cd's at my pc. When I convert to 320 kbps mp3 the difference is small, LAME encoder.
(LAME = LAME Ain't an Mp3 Encoder , geek humor)
192 should already be a step forward. But I can see why they like 128kb/s
The lower the bitrate the less diskspace they need and less bandwidth to stream it to us.

Oh ok!
"Thunder" was my second song which I convertet with the highest interpolation, and I recognized that the audio quality is suffering at my last two songs. At the next song I should try to convert with the default interpolation setting, hope that gets better!

You do loose dynamics, when streaming music from soundcloud. I'm guessing that they are trying to save bandwidth, from each user by streaming at 128kBits.
