Temporary Solution re:soundcloud groups

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Ok, so I've got a temporary solution in the works for the whole Soundcloud Groups thing. I've been playing around with making a facebook page that could in essence be an artist hub. To be completely honest, I've named the page the LMMS Artist Hub. It's not published yet, cause I want to get community input as to whether or not they'd like this.

But the reason I'm calling it a hub is I think we should try to do a format similar to Monstercat where theres a central page that simply shares the links to the original artist's individual soundclouds (and maybe have a soundcloud profile that reposts those tracks). Also, I think it would be a fun idea to also on the hub include little ask me anything (AMA) sessions where individual artists can be selected to have a spotlight post about them, along with the option to have them answer questions from other artists or even listeners. Really the idea behind that is so that we can not only showcase the LMMS product, but different ways, styles, and individuals behind making the music that we get to see on the forums.

If this is approved by the community, I'll pass along the page's administrative rights to the forum moderators so that we can still have some degree of moderation.

Anyways, what's everyone's thoughts in regards to this? I would especially like to hear from the moderators in this regard. personally, i think it might be our best solution to making The Best of LMMS Vol. 4 Competition accessible to others.
Im against FB, They are abusing our data and is impossible to reason with -Also they threw me out :p (signature->
Unlike SoundCloud which is specifically about music and audio, Facebook is being used for all sorts of purposes and reasons. An LMMS group/page already exists, so I don't see much reason to have another one.

I think we could achieve a whole lot more on these forums, but only if they get some updates: enabling embeds, parsing URLs, support for externals, etc. An LMMS forum theme would also be nice.
Gotcha (both caLRo & musikbear). Really I was suggesting creating the Facebook page idea because I'm more familiar with facebook than most other formats.

The other idea's that I had was either devoting a reddit page specifically to the artists (or using the existing reddit, that works too), or creating a single LMMS soundcloud account that reposts artist's uploads once they are posted to the forums. In any case, I feel we should at least try to promote LMMS and it's artists more outside of the forums exclusively.
This is just my opinion, but I felt like sharing it here.

I think a dedicated LMMS group focuses too much at the tool and not the music. Posting a track to a subreddit or whatever group that is dedicated to a particular genre (for example) could possibly provide a lot more valuable feedback that is not limited to an LMMS user's perspective but rather has a more generalised view to that genre and production in general, if you know what I'm saying.

That said, I'm not opposing an LMMS group somewhere. I was fairly active in the Google+ community a few years ago and I did get to see some encouraging feedback but not really a lot of constructive criticism and such.

LMMS users are a large bunch and (this is just my observation!) there's a tendency to receive comments like "this genre is not really my thing, but..." followed by slightly generic opinions and/or critique. If you are producing a particular genre then you probably would have more luck asking for feedback in a group that is focused on that genre.
Creating an LMMS soundcloud account is a good idea for promoting tracks.
Maybe create some playlists dedicated to genres, for example:
- House
- Dubstep
- Ambient
- DnB
- Orchestral
-...

But a problem exists: Who should repost all the tracks, many many uploaded in just one day. It is nearly impossible to repost all the LMMS tracks, because there are so many. Unless you write an lmms hashtag or somehing.
Well, I dont have an idea to promote tracks :P

If we do the singular account, I'd volunteer to manage that. I'd just have people message the account with links to their individual songs which they want reposted. Although it might be a good idea to restrict the number of previously finished songs to five or so. That way it wouldn't take too much time to repost everything.

Not sure what you mean by that, but here is the LMMS artist hub, the temporary solution to the sound cloud groups. https://soundcloud.com/lmms_artisthub
all you have to do is send a message via soundcloud to the LMMS artist hub for them to repost a track.
