Sample sound timing error

Hi there peeps.

I (probably) discovered a bug that makes my music editing "hell".

What do I mean by that:

When I insert a sample so I can edit added instruments with piano roll, I cannot pause and start from a different place from the sample.

IF I disable the sample sound, everything is fine BUT it's an incomplete action, because I cannot hear the summary of my work.

I want to pause and start from/to the moment I want to go and edit/play my project WITHOUT playing the sample sound from the beggining.

Is there any solution?

Thanks in advance.

Nope That one is so utterly known (and hated :)

Im afraid i have to say no.
The only thing you can do is to use tiny pieces of wave/ ogg material, That way the annoyance is limited, but not gone.
You can however do other great stuff with Sample-track,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCTaCs_8j2M
and if you look at sample-track as a loop-container, then 'simply' accept that current lmms does not have a method to handle long recordings, and that you for that reason need Audacity. It is being looked at..

Hi again and thanks for the immediate answer.

It's not about recording (I do it at Audacity anyway) but EDITING (composing) with a sample. That's my main problem.

Thanks again. :)

Yess i got that in first round, but that is also where lmms is in trouble.
Lmms can only play samples from the 0.pos
Audacity was mentioned, because you can split a long sample in many smaller, and hence get more 0.pos in lmms, when you insert all the fragments. that is the only way for now
