When using a VST like sforzando, is it possible to use one instance for 12 instruments? Or do you need to use one instance per instrument?

yes, if you route all the instruments you want the effect to affect into one fx channel (say that 10 times fast), you can apply the effect to the channel and it will apply to all the instruments

Sorry, I wasn't clear, I meant a VSTi, not an effects device. What I want to do is have an entire orchestra on one instance of Aria or even the sp2 player. Flutes on channel 1, oboes on 2, and so on. Having a separate instance for each instrument can be a CPU drain.
