No sound from LMMS

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi, I just installed LMMS late last night, then decided I try to set everything up and try it out this morning. I was able to enable the MIDI input, but there is no sound at all, coming from the program. The record button isn't even available.

• My computer runs on Windows 10
• I am using a CASIO CTK-651
• I use an ART MConnect MIDI USB
• I am running LMMS 1.1.3

- I have the setting's MIDI interface on WinMM MIDI.

- The audio interface is on SDL

I spent hours googling for answers and looking at tutorials, and nothing is working. Does any know how to fix this?
Start with the basics. On a standard Triple Oscillator track, click on the name and the Triple Osc box will come up. If you play the little keyboard at the bottom of the screen (with the mouse) do you get any sounds ?

What instrument did you "enable the MIDI input" on ? When you play the MIDI keyboard does the green light to the left of Volume flash on that track ?

I assume you have the Casio's MIDI OUT connected to the MIDI>USB adaptor and MIDI enabled (if it needs it).

I enabled it on the oscillator. I hear sound when I click with my mouse, but not when I use my MIDI keyboard. To make this more annoying, while reading your reply, LMMS just stopped acknowledging my MIDI keyboard out of complete nowhere. So now I can no longer enable MIDI.

Steves advices should have done it for you, but i want to start with the absolute basics.
So first Basic sound-devise-setup:
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=LM ... o_Settings
You are on windows, so you must select SDL

Next we want to have sound when you press qwerty-kb.
You could watch my 'rookie-guide' (link in signature) or you can read the 'getting-started' chapter in the wiki.

Now after this, you should then read the midi-chapter.
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=Using_MIDI
I also recommend to restart lmms with your midi-kb active, and then follow the wiki, and steves recommendations. Let us know if you got success.
So we now know that LMMS works fine and the rest of the audio chain is o.k. because you are getting sounds. So it's just the MIDI keyboard that's the problem. If you haven't already, check the MIDI chapter in your Casio manual to see if anything in there needs enabling.

There are a few ways of working out what exactly is going on but first you need to get the connection made again reliably. Check all plugs and maybe try another USB port.

Good luck - Steve
