Connecting MIDI

Hi, I am in desperate need of help. So I am trying to connect a MIDI. I go to preferences then click the keyboard icon and the only option on the dropdown is "Dummy (no MIDI support)". To my knowledge apparently there is supposed to be more options there. Please help! Thanks!

What operating system ? If it's Windows you should see WinMM Midi.
