How create similar to Kavinsky?

Questions about producing? Ask them here.
Hi! Totally new to creating music and I want to go for retro 80s synth style like Kavinsky and more. I love the youtube channel newRetroWave. Any pointers where to start, any samples that are good or what do I do? :) I am looking at some basics of how to use this program but would be fun to play with the sound of 80s at same time

Thanks!

Since most like me do not know who or what it is, could you find a youtube example and post the link.
You need to add exact timestamps for where the wanted sound starts and less important -ends
Like 2:32 -> 2:55

;)
Thanks for reminding me that I should be a bit more specific :) I was trying to find something catchy and get the "feeling" of what I want. Here is something that I am looking for:

Most 80s synth songs in this gengre I guess have one long repetative loop so similar to this

Quite slow tempo with easy bass and some synth cords
It's going to take you a while to get anywhere near tunes of that level of complexity. I'd concentrate on getting the right sort of sounds first.

Start with synths not with samples (except perhaps for the drums). Both Triple Oscillator and ZynAddSubFX have some interesting presets that will get you close to those '80s sounds. The other synth that everyone uses is Synth1 (download from http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/#down - don't worry about all the Japanese, just download the top one). Then if you Google "Synth1 80s presets" you'll be on your way.

I actually found a nice tutorial for fl studio with alot of good info. He uses quite many different VSTs and some commercial. I am trying to find corresponding free stuff to try out.

But seems quite easy to get something going. I now need to learn more about "sidechaining" and how to make that in lmms.

Will look at synth1 and some others.

Thanks!
