Hope my videos can help your understanding of the subject :) It is important, and i could hear the problem emediately in your track.
It is sometimes fine to do use notes not in scale, but in edm, its not used a lot.

There is also several topics on our board, that focus on this. One of is

where the first ~ 10 pages is about scale and key
Wooah! :D
@ Brandy, have you missed the part were, when when I serious started making music with lmms, people asked if I was tone deaf ? :P

I remember me uploading a tune, and asking is it was out of tune.
When about everybody said yes, I was mostly confused, because I did not have a clue about scales, and my ears were not trained enough to recognize it.

To the topic starter :)
First time I watched one of the vids of music bear about scales I could not hear what was wrong.
After a few month of refusing to give up, and a lot of help on how to stay in scale.I listened and watched that vid again.
This time I did hear why music bear says no, so many time when moving the notes.

I remember. Especially with some of your old tracks and the Popcorn melody. :)

From what I remember a few years back, music that has notes played/written in no particular key etc,
and is all over the place etc. is sometimes referred to, as atonal or atonality. (I hope I said that correctly.) :D
Some musicians back in the old days, made atonal musical/piano pieces too.
And some of those same musicians/others disliked, when critics and pesky critics, called their music atonal. :P

There is quite a controversy, surrounding the term (atonal), as some individuals/critics, have a tendency
to use the term, in the wrong context musically. :D

Also, a few years back, I remember an Lmms user called djkingpin aka Chad the DJ guy
posted an interesting remix, here on this forum, that sounded atonal, yet interesting.
Strangely I found the track cool. :D
If I find that track again, I'll post the link to it.
