VST loads, but GUI never appears

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hello,

I am using LMMS 1.1.3 on Windows 10, and there's a certain VST plugin that I'm trying to use that doesn't seem to load all the way: Magical8BitPlug, which can be found here. I pull up Vestige and open the plugin. The plugin registers, but the GUI is missing. I can get something similar with the wrench icon/"control VST plugin from LMMS host" button, but it's missing some crucial information (the first knob on the plugin is supposed to tell you what wave you're using, and while one can parse it out with some guesswork, it's a bit annoying to work without it). What am I missing that would get the GUI to come up?
That plugin simply doesn't seem to have a working GUI. From the pics on that page it seems to be relying on exporting the controls for the DAW to translate...which LMMS does via the wrench. Quite a few early VSTs used to work that way.

I checked it in a couple of other DAWs with similar results. Some are a little easier to work with because they translate the controls via sliders and show actual values like OscKind as squareShape, noiseShape... or Release as 2.5 seconds etc. where LMMS shows everything in a range from 0 to 1.

Time to find yourself a more up-to-date 8-bit plugin perhaps (if the terms "up-to-date" and "8-bit" are compatible ;)).

'Steve nailed your problem. If you search in our DB for tested vst you can find some 8-bit emulators i believe. but there is also default FreeBoy & the commendore emulator shipped with lmms. take a look at those too.
