MIDI input on existing projects

Hi all
Whenever I open an existing project which previously had MIDI input connections, the saved connections are still correctly shown on their respective context menus (for instance, ch1 ctrl75 assigned to FX1 slider) . However, those connections seem to be dead until I manually disconnect and reconnect each of them. Am I doing anything wrong?
Setup: lmms 0.4.13 - ubuntustudio 12.04 - macbook pro 8 2 - M-Audio Oxygen 49
