TripleOscillator detuning?

whats the difference between "course detuning" and "fine detuning" and why are there (separate) left and right knobs for the "fine detuning"?
Coarse detuning detunes by a semitone per "level", while fine detuning detunes in hundreths of a semitone.
Don't know the answer to the second question for sure, my guess is that the whole thing is stereo and that allows you to detune the different stereo waves differently.
