Is LMMS Dead?

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
I was wondering if this program is still in developement? There has been no update in 7 months. What's the point of that ? The last few versions were just bugfixes, why not finally some new features? When actually was the last feature update? When i discovered this program back in 2009, i really thought it had some potential. I thought it will get much more features and eventually become a feature-complete alternative to FL-Studio. But after some time i started losing faith.

Concerning this is the most popular free music program, (i hope you are aware of that) you would expect some more updates? Right now this program seems as good as dead. And if you look at the Project page, you see that there isn't actually any developement going on, just some tiny Bugfixes maybe every 3 months... wtf. This program could use some new features and it still has many problems.

If you don't update LMMS, people will stop using it because it's not longer competitive with other programs. It will no longer be the most popular program, because there are already new programs that also get updated more frequently, like Rosegarden, Qtractor or OpenOctave (which looks awesome by the way). Just saying.
Oh my Gosh!! LMMS is dead?! :o  NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Maybe the developers are currently in prison ?
Or migrated to another planet, far, far, away. In another distant galaxy. :o

Yeah, the developers of LMMS, as I believe, are aware of problems. There are some similar questions to yours, asking about new releases etc.

"I am one of those people who asked," .....when the next LMMS release date is?"

I hope a better fixed version is released soon, or in a couple months time. LMMS is a really cool program. And shouldn't be allowed to fade away, into the distant sunset.

Let's keep our fingers crossed. ;)

Bye.
Every project like this has periods of lower activity. If you want some action you simply need to cough up the money to employ someone to do it or learn how to code yourself.

It doesn't look completely dark yet but it would be good if the developers just stated that they're 'just away for a while', so people don't freak out.

Yeah I knew that. But despite the jokes, I must give a very special thanks, to the hard working LMMS crew, for making such a fantastic program, a reality. :D :D
And for all the hard work and hours put in it, to make LMMS, the fantastic program that is. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. :D

Bye.

That comment was more intended for fischkopf11.
Being the upbeat person that I am, The developers are probably currently working on a bunch of things for LMMS, and once it's ready they probably want it to come out as a surprise!
"No LMMS isn't dead, it just smells funny" (~Frank Zappa)

I discovered LMMS a few weeks ago since I needed an easy tool for composing music (although I can't read notes . I think it's a unique & fantastic piece of software and the VST-integration makes it even more perfect. But, it's só unfortunate those little bugs around VST keep away the big audience. I'm sure that when the VST-issues are solved and LMMS is stable, Sourceforge's 'project of the month' award will be in tha pocket and.. the glorious days for LMMS are yet to come!
If you go from the main LMMS site page to the community page, and then look at the mailing list archives - it seems something is going on. Yet even amongst developers it seems getting stuff into the pipeline smoothly might be tricky. Understandable though considering all the platforms they're trying to support and challenging aspect of creating new features which may be implemented. (The Wiki and wish-list section of the forums have some really cool ones listed, but making them work smoothly and close to as described is likely not that easy.)

Although I do agree it would be nice if they'd address the forum on the "state of the art" in terms of what's going on with LMMS unstable branches and other stuff we don't get to see made to public release yet. Then again, maybe they just don't want to be constantly bugged from the user side as to when the cool new stuff will be on the download page.
