Hi,
I'm trying to use Vestige to use VST plugins in LMMS on XP. Every plugin I try fails, even those suggested in the VST database. The program is finding the dll but won't load it without errors.

I downloaded using the installer on the website.

you need to tell us what OS and ver. of lmms you have this problems with.
Loading vst's can make lmms crash.
I posted a reasonable method on the mailing list yesterday:
(works for win32, lmms v 0.4.5 & 0.4.6)
*SAVE PROJECT! (better save than sorry..)
*load a default EMPTY! vst from the 'instrument pluging' reposetory
*bring this new empty vst up -eg, activate it /give it focus
*browse the 'my presets' and find the saved vst-instrument you like to load
*RIGHT! click it
*choose 'send to active instrument bank'
-the saved vst-instrument will load in the empty vst-default, in very short time and withour crashes-

hey, i understand your pain.

had the same troubles after it went 46 as well, but reading this forum briefly i found a tutorial with a brief mention of setting up the vst directory. on 45 it set up a plugins directory, but not on this version apparently, so it had "c:\program files\vstplugins" or eq. so in other words, to solve your problem,

1- go to the edit dropdown menu and select "settings"
2- click on the folder icon
3- on the line "vst-plugins directory" - put your vst plugin path. i use "c:\vst"
