Hi guys, I'm very new to LMMS and I'm here with another question. I would ofcourse like the best result possible when I'm creating my music, but I'm so confused about alot of things. I watched a tutorial on using the FX-Mixer, and I -kind of- understand it, but what I don't understand is the relation to the track volume setting, and also the volume setting for individual notes. Also, there's a 'master volume'- slider at the top of the screen that seems to have no relation to the master volume slider in the FX-Mixer. So what do I do to get the best sound?

You can regard the FX-mixer as the tool for controlling how much each instrument should be audible in the finished track.
You could do that with only the volume dials that is on each instrument, but it is mucvh more convenient on a mixer.

That article is however pretty outdated.
But i have already made videotutorials covering very basic stuff, but also more advanced things you can do with the advanced mixer, that was added to lmms 1.0

Hah, it's actually one of your videos I was watching, that's funny. Well thanks so much for your reply.

The Note Volume for individual notes in Piano Roll should really be called velocity (the standard MIDI name). I think of it as sort of how hard you hit each individual key on a piano, loud or soft.

The track volume or FX channel volume if you're using one FX channel per track then controls the overall level of that instrument (so that's maybe how far away from the piano you're standing ). You use those controls to balance the level between the different tracks so e.g. the bass doesn't overpower the drums etc. You want to keep the meters on those and the master well out of the red. That's called clipping and it can ruin an otherwise good song.

It's been renamed Velocity for 1.2

Ooo what is it exactly you miss in the video? The video must be insufficient if you still have issues, so i would like to know, so i can add some annotations to clear those issues :)

I don't think your videos are the issue, I'm just alittle confused on a very broad pallete about a great many things that I have to get sorted out. I've only even known about LMMS and creating music for about 6 months now.

PS: I'm Danish too, by the way ;D

I still am learning myself, but the most important to do it like in the video is convenience.

On the mixer being able to mute just the percussion or only the instruments, makes mixing easier.
These days I have three channels that go to the master channel. A bass(line) channel, an all instruments channel and a percussion channel.

Been wondering about using two percussion channels. One for the hi hats and snares, and one for the kicks.

I have not written/ recorded any tutorials in danish, though. I doubt the userbase is too small, but i would guess ~10 -15 here are danes :)

Absolutely true!
when a good ui is designed, there are always alternative ways for doing the same actions, and that also applies to setting volume and such, it is however not so good that word 'Master' is used twice, but they are en essence not related at all.
The Master-Volume in main-component should ((almost)) never be touched!
All actual volume adjustment, automated as well as manual, should be made in mixer and on individual presets.
Now that i think about this, the question is quite good! @AntsInThePants :D
