So, here's the story.

I install LMMS 1.2.0, beta version, and the download goes fine. I click the shortcut for it, but my laptop tells me the shortcut can't be reached, I may need access from an admin. I am on the admin account...

I go into the folder in Program Files, look in it, and everything's there, except for the lmms.exe file.

My LMMS 1.1.3 is working fine, so I uninstall and re-install LMMS 1.2.0 (I used the same setup I first downloaded off of the official website). Still doesn't work, same problem.

Now, I uninstall LMMS 1.2.0 again and also my LMMS 1.1.3, along with the folder that houses my projects and presets for good measure (I made sure my presets and projects were safe, right now they're in a folder I created for them).

(A funny note: my .mmpz files still had the LMMS logo on them, but LMMS wasn't even installed on my computer at this time).

I download a fresh 1.2.0 installer and try that one. All it's missing is the .exe file again.

I finally uninstall it one more time time and re-install LMMS 1.1.3. I'm back to where I started, but I would really like to try out the new LMMS version.

Can someone help me, and am I the only one with this problem?

I'm not sure how Windows work as I'm mostly on linux, but I think that you may accidentally have opened the .exe file instead of running it for installation. In which case you won't find the .exe because you're looking inside it.

Yes, but can you right click on the download icon and copy the link to the very same file you downloaded and paste that link here?

I doubt I'm clicking the .exe file itself, because all it gives me is an installer, and I haven't been able to open LMMS 1.2.0, like I said in my first post.

Are we talking about the same .exe file? When I say .exe I mean lmms.exe, the file that lets you open up LMMS. Not the installer itself, which I get from the website.

Ok, remove the config-file like:

did that work?

I just found out that my antivirus considered the lmms.exe file a threat and removed it. Everything's fixed now.
