empty sidebar in lmms

Hello !

LMMS works fine the regular way.

However, I wanted to use the VeSTige instrument, wasn't available (under the current Linux version I'm running: Linux Mint Cinnamon).
So I downloaded the windows version (stable v1.1.3) of LMMS, installed and ran via Wine.
The first time I opened, everything seemed to be there, but now, for some reason, the whole sidebar is empty. No instruments, no samples, no presets, no ...

I tried to uninstall / reïnstall lmms
Same with Wine
Tried to reboot couple of times.
Tried to change the links to the right folders. Apparently I'm doing something wrong.

See photo below:

Anyone had some similar problem before?
Thanks for the help!

I even tried to install both:
- 32 bit (shows empty sidebar)
- 64 bit (shows empty sidebar)
aswel as the b1.2 beta version. (but doesn't run via wine, yet)

Do you know who builds the packages for Linux mint ?

I wonder if they made a mistake, but not sure.

No I don't know who builds the packages for Linux Mint.

However, the normal Linux version works perfect, although without the VeSTige instrument.

Perhaps there's something with Wine that didn't do the full install for some reason...

I never had to do it on openSUSE, but somebody on ubuntu told us, he had to set up wine for windows 7.

Since mint comes from Ubuntu it might be worth a try.

But wine is only vestige related, so I doubt wine to be the issue here.

we have the 'best' collection of hints for getting vst's to work in linux. I am a total blanc when it comes to linux, so i may have written nosense, but for now, its the best we have.
If you can use the methods, i would really appreciate a feedback, because then i can add one more pack-solution, to the list

Hmm, tried a lot of stuff the last couple of hours...

I did the steps this guy said:
http://nickhumphreyit.blogspot.be/2013/ ... -lmms.html

And then I now have VeSTige available in the normal Linux version of LMMS.
However, can't seem to open the .dll files of the vst I want to open.
The vst should be working according to the vst list on the lmms wiki page database.
Can't seem to run it via wine neither.

Have tried the steps from here aswel:

Progress :)

I am not an expert, but if you cant open the .dll files there must be a problem with wine or you need to tell mint that you want to open the .dll files with wine.
Linux can't use .dll files, wine translates everything so that our Linux can use it.

One thing to check, those .dll files who is the owner? Should be you ( the user) and not root.
Don't know mint but on openSUSE its as easy as right click on a file and then click properties, then go to the tab were you can see the rights.
To change them you need to become root on openSUSE, I expect mint to be the same.
