WIP of First LMMS Song

Heyo! Working on my first song and I've got the melodies figured out for the verse and chorus, so I thought I might ask a couple questions since I'm kinda struggling with it.

The WIP so far. First half is verse melody, second half is chorus melody.

I plan to have vocals for the song and used the melodies I had planned for the sung lyrics, so I wanted to know:
Most tutorials I've looked at advise starting with a beat and chords first and then melody. I'm kinda working backwards in that regard because I came up with the melody first. Any advice on adding melodies/chords in a way that stays cohesive?
And is there anything I should watch out for in regards to instrumentals I plan to put vocals on?

Critiques and comments are welcome. My only familiarity with music is playing ukulele so I really want to learn more to make my own songs!
The music track sounds nice so far.

Tip: The percussion sounds, drum etc. should be a tiny bit louder though.

Tips: When using vocals, try to make sure that the vocals, isn't drowned out by the melodies, sounds and instruments in the track. Sometimes, this can be hard to do successfully. Especially, if there is a loud drum, kick drum and bass, playing in the background.

Make sure that the person singing the vocals, is singing in tune and in the correct pitch, with the other sounds in the track.

Add some calf reverb to the vocals, and tweak the dials as much as you want.
Note that adding any reverb, especially lmms' calf reverb to the vocals, will make the vocals sound fuller, and add a more cooler effect to it too.
