Samples/plugins to get started

Hi guys, I'm new. Like- new, new. Just starting to get my head around this thing but ready to commit long term. So I was wondering what should the first step be in order to start making good music?

I am already learning the basics of synths, but the default library of samples seems to be quite limited. Specifically, it doesn't seem like I have anywhere near the drums I need. I presume I can synthesize most instruments to some degree, but having a nice library of samples to start on and get inspired would seem to be a good first step as well.

There doesn't seem to be any tips on where to go to get set up properly and actually start for real (and apologies if I missed it) so I would massively appreciate someone's help on where I can find some nice free samples and anything else I might need like plugins for effects, etc.

Thanks.

Welcome to Lmms Forums Alexander. :D
If you want, you could learn some music theory. :)

Awesome, thank you Brandy. When you say music theory, I do have a background in classical piano, so I know that much. Is there anything specific to computer music that you mean?

Oohhh. That's awesome! You're already on the right path. So forget what I said about music theory. :)
