That is the project as far as I have come with it. What should I do with it to make it sound better, what genre is it, and if you have any advice or tips I am open to suggestions as I am a noob
Hi FlumeWulf and welcome to the forums!

Okay, I don't necessarily see your request. the genre is most likely Electro, but I would label it as EDM to be safe :)
Umm, hmm I would add a few more tracks, but I won't bother you about the complicated stuff. No real issues.A nice Hip Hop beat that you added, which I can appreciate.

That "complicated stuff" was what I was asking about

Sounds a tad like a hybrid of both Electro and Glitch Hop. I really like that faint synth in the background. But I'd add bit more of a distorted sounding bass when it gets to a drop. Listen to the first drop of The Fall by Seven Lions & Xilent to understand what I'm talking about.

Hi I like also to welcome you here. You already given links to my post about everything important, so thats good.

First of, you have a great little tune there!
It kind of start as a trance track, but then changes a bit... so.. EDM :p
You obvious know chords and scales, and uses the melody excellent!

So how to 'evolve' that track.
There are 'models' for the structure of music, sometimes its great to use them, sometime its better to forgedaboudem :)

But if we take a model, then it could be

There also this boards largest post
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=4845

In that HUGE post a lot of the purpose of structure and how to build a track, is discussed in details!
So I've asked a few of my friends - as well as some other online groups - some that make music and some that don't - and what I'm hearing the most is that my beat was not what they had expected; the beat belongs to a more hip-hop style song; etc.
In my defense I haven't had much to do with music for quite a few years, having quit competitive piano halfway through high school. I probably should have listened to a bunch of music before installing LMMS and trying to make anything; however, I figured it would be fun and at the very least I would learn something.
So what I am wondering is this: are there tutorials somewhere on how to make beats that are appropriate to certain styles of EDM? If there are any, I would greatly appreciate it. And if there aren't any, I would still appreciate any pointers y'all could give me.

P.S.: I feel like maybe I am putting too much pressure on myself for this first project. But I have always been a perfectionist
Really, my best advice for you is to get acquainted with different styles and genres. The beauty of music is that from a basis, one can make their music evolve. One artist I particularly enjoy who covers a wide variety of genres is Seven Lions. Heres some genres he's touched on:

[Progressive House] - Falling Away (feat. LIGHTS) [Festival Radio Edit]
[Melodic Dubstep] - Days to Come (feat. Fiora)
[Drumstep] - Summer of the Occult
[Trance] - Cusp
[Electro House] - The Fall (with Xilent)

The more you can find genres that you'd like to try, the more your own music will evolve. I started out doing mostly melodic variants of drumstep, but recently have been getting more into both Dubstep and Trance.

There l o a d s of them
https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... rials+lmms
Heres some ~100 AND all in lmms!
I would guess that you will find < 1000 000 for Flstudio..
Your biggest problem is not finding beatmaking-tuts, the biggest problem is finding which is worth watching :p

One thing however
If you are without basic music understanding of scales and keys and such, then that is where you should start!

Perhaps I didn't quite make myself clear; what I wanted help with was the drum rhythm

That''s one of the best on specific rhythm styles that I've found but you'll need to decide exactly what genre you're interested in first. Oh and do some translating/working out because it's not LMMS specific. But see if it helps.
