Noise in wav and ogg when exporting.

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi

I'm new to lmms. I'm using it to create some basic sound effects for a game I'm working on.

I use manjaro, LMMS 1.2.0 RC2 and SDL as audio interfce.

When i test some notes (zynaddsubfx) it sounds clear and with no distortion (apart from the effect im using) but when I export the project I get some strange noises.

Could be that I'm not adjusting correctly the sound, since i'm newbie I could be doing many things wrong, but I dont get why playing from LMMS the sound is good and when I exported it's not.

Here is an example of that noise https://clyp.it/xuvfgs4d

Edit: I have used different bitrates/depths/Interpolation with the same result.

Do not know manjaro, but otherwise fine
when I export the project I get some strange noises.
The bell ought to be crystal clean, right?

Nehh you have done so many right things..

.

should not, but
You do use 1.2.0 PR, and may accidental have stumpled over a bug.
The best would be if you could let me have the project, you can send me a link in pm, if you want to keep it private, or you can just upload public on LSP

Hi

Thanks for the answer

I uploaded the file in LSP as you suggested

i'l look at it -thanks

It is the Master-channel automation that causes this problem. Master channel should be left at a set value, and the individual mixer-channels should be adjusted/ automated.
However the way you do it here is not optimal.
I suspect you jam the volume that dramatically up, because you want a 'punch' in the attack of the bell -Right?
That should be done with the filter-Attack and ENV slope.
Further, and exclusively to zasfx, there is a 'punch' setting that will allow you to get that specific effect.
Here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfxeCneq7Vk
@0 ..1:09 you can see how to get to that setting.
It is named p.Str, and is on left side 3. rows of dials
p.t sets how long the punch takes.
Experiment with those, and the attack-settings
(there is a whole series of vids around the filters in zasfx starting with
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQRvEa1Xv88
and fwd.)
Ask if you need more
Hi

Thank you so much for the answer. I didnt have time to answer you before.

I just tried without the automation with only one note default as in Zynaddsubfx (the sound i'm using is called "falling stars") and I still get that noise when I export. So it seems the problem it is not related to the automation track.

I have the same problem with other effects on zynaddsubfx configured as default.

So now I'm not sure where to look at to fix the problem.

Edit: I'm going to test with 1.1.3 to see if the problem is related to de RC
So I'm getting the same result in 1.1.3 with just one note and not effect other than the sound preset itself. The strange thing is that I don't hear that noise until I export, so I never sure what is producing the error or if I should that preset or not.

Edit: Im going to test in windows.
Can you use a default zasfx instead of your instrument.
Eg just drag a factory zasfx in from sidebar, and insert one single note, then export that. If there is a bug in export, that should also have the bug.
If it does not, then it is setting in the project/ preset.

If by default you mean one from the the bank list, actually I was testing with one from the bank list, It's under under "mysterious bank3" under the name "falling stars", in the same bank I tested echoes and echoes 2 with the same problem.

I will try to test in my laptop and in windows tonight.
Ok so im getting the same result in windows, with the same note and effect from zasfx so I suppose the problem is related to the sound I'm using, even though is from the default bank sound. I still wonder why the sound is good when I play in LMMS.

I will test with another sounds and see what I can found out.
