Notes not sounding - huh?

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I need to learn some music theory in addition to learning LMMS. So I figured a good way to do that would be to take sheet music and transpose it into LMMS.

So I took a piece from a favorite composer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBjjfUexPCA and immediately ran into problems finding the right notes. In retrospect, maybe I should have chosen something in a simpler key, like Cmaj. But whatever, after several hours and much gnashing of teeth, I finally got it sounding right.

The first eight measures repeat twice. I don't know of a Repeat function in the piano roll, so I copied the notes and pasted them in. After sliding them into place, I hit Play ...

... and hear NOTHING.

The notes were still there. I hadn't messed with any volume controls, I hadn't isolated the instrument, nothing like that. I Undid my C&P ... and the first 8 measures played just fine. For some reason, though, when the event grows to 16 bars, it just quits.

Maybe this has to do with buffer size in settings? Mine is currently at 256 — I haven't changed the default. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Now that I've been writing this, I think I know how to get around the issue: Make a new instrument event for every 8 bars. I'd still like an answer, though, as this seems quite counterintuitive.

no no, this does not have to do with buffers, i think it is a problem with global automation.
After you hit silence halt the play-head, and examine if any of the volume-dials has been placed at zero, then right-click that dial and select 'remove-global-automation

If that not it, i would like to see the project

Well, ooooookay ...

I went back to an earlier version of my project. It had just 8 measures in the treble line, so I C&P to make 16.

And it played just fine. It played in the piano roll, and it played in the song editor.

In other words, I couldn't duplicate my problem so I could try your solution.

I guess this will be a great mystery of LMMS, at least for a while. Thanks!
