zynaddsubfx "show gui"

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I've been using LMMS 1.1.3 with zynaddsubfx for several weeks now (on LinuxMint with KXstudio repo). Just suddenly in the last couple of days I can't get it to work. When I hit the "Show GUI" button it just doesn't respond. It used to work, and it's frustrating because I was just putting finishing touches on a track I spent a lot of time on. Any suggestions to get it responding again? Since zasf seems to be the only lmms synth with microtuning support, getting it working again pretty much determines whether I can continue using LMMS at all anymore... Thanks in advance for any help!

Here i see 2 different angles
The OS angle:
That
It used to work
is the core of it all.
The problem you now have is not a lmms problem. You must have done something to your installation, but what that is, i cant ofcause say.
Here you need to try to remember what it was you installed or removed before this strangeness occurred.

The UI angle
Just maby the zasfx-ui actually IS opened, but it is outside your current view!
Try this
Open zasfx instrument
Close down every lmms component
Now you should only have the zasfx-instrument in view!
Look at the slider in the bottom part of lmms main-screen
Press 'show-gui'-button
IF the slider moves, it indicates that somewhere out of your current view, the gui has opened, and is occupying space on the lmms-ui
You then have to scroll far out to the right, where you will find your zasfx-ui.
I hope ..
A bit more troubleshooting...
1. I had also thought about whether I installed anything that messed it up. I couldn't remember installing or changing anything, and I confirmed in the logs that nothing was installed or updated during the timeframe that this came up. I don't recall any other system settings changing either.
2. zasf opens in its own window separate from LMMS, so it doesn't matter how cluttered or not the LMMS gui is. Nevertheless I followed your instruction above, just to confirm I wasn't missing anything.
3. So then I resorted to the old school method. I did a "complete uninstall" of LMMS and zasf, including manually deleting any remaining config files I found. Then re-installed. Yep, now it's working again like before. So some config must have corrupted somehow...

fyi, from some quick searching it looks like there has been a history of issues related to the zasf Show GUI button not working. for example:
viewtopic.php?t=593

Anyway I'm back in business now. Thanks for your help, musikbear!

oki hoped it was just the outside view thing

oh ya, but that is 5 y ago, i also made a 'hack' for problems with the zasfx gui, because some deep settings can crash lmms (not our bug)
But thats here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrrl3OiiJvM
Interesting! So in Linux, to run zasf in Vestige where do I find the dll? From a Windows installation of zasf? I'm curious to try this out.
thanks!
The dll can be found in the zasfx projects file-deposity on sourceforge. I link to the files in the yT comments :)
