LMMS 1.1.3, VST fx and instruments not loading

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi all, I have LMMS 1.1.3 running in the latest KXStudio 64-bit running on a Core 2 Duo PC, with a USB audio interface providing IO, and it all runs very fine. LMMS however doesn't want to open VST instruments or effects - Wine is installed both 32 and 64 bit versions, and the VeSTige plugin is present in LMMS so I can assume LMMS is compiled for VST use.

When I go to open a VST instrument or insert a VST effect I get a message saying "The VST-Plugin [insert path/name here] could not be loaded for some reason. If it runs with other VST-Software under Linux, please contact an LMMS-Developer!" - if I look at console output when trying to load VST anything it says "remote plugin died! invalidating now.".

I'm trying to use the MDA effects and MDA ePiano, and I've had no trouble using those in LMMS 1.1.3 on an AMD Phenom 2 X6 64-bit openSUSE 13.1 box.

Any ideas out there to get this working? :/

thats sounds perfect

special, but dont think it matters

Why two installs? If you have a x64 system, and has lmms x64, then only WINE X64 would be needed.

ok.

Ok, but what distro is the problem pc using?

First i would decide what version i want to run x32 /x64, and then remove the other.
But linux variations are a swamp of distress. The various pac-men, simply do not ship all needed for lmms
Have you read the linux-WINE chapter in wiki?

Hi there,

Wine was not installed out of box - I should clarify; I selected package "wine 1.6" to install, and "wine1.6-amd64" and "wine1.6-i386:i686" are included as part of the install - each of those respectively are the libs for 64 and 32 bit support, but the main package is 64 bit.

It is the 64-bit KXStudio Live DVD/installer, downloaded from the KXStudio website - its based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with rt kernel etc, and all the KXStudio stuff extras installed and working out-of-box.

This one i really dont like, because it Sounds like you have done all the right things..
I am afraid that i am without advises, except trying the 32-bit KXStudio Live DVD/installer, from the KXStudio website
I know that 'advise' sucks, because you would downgrade in respect to you hw, but a least it would be a test to see if that angle also leads to dead-end
So if you are up to it
De-install everything, and download a new KXStudio bundle..
..Ofcause you could try a brand new x64 first, then -if it fails again, de-install that, and then go for the x32. Then you would know if something was wrong in the first installer..

No problem, I might try openSUSE x64 on it since I know that works on my other box, and I'm much more familiar with troubleshooting in openSUSE - I don't have an rt kernel with that box, yet I get latency as low as 5ms without xruns - my problem box is a slower machine, so I will install the preempt-rt kernel if required...

If that doesn't work I will try 32-bit KXStudio live DVD...

Cheers,
