I want to make a synth that sounds a lot like the one in the very beginning of this piece.

However, I have no idea on how to make it. Is there a tutorial out there on how to make a synth like the one I want? Thanks in advance

That is bitchrushing that causes that distortion, you can do that with several effect-plugins, but most will use something camel-chrusher or mangler

You could also use Synth1, and add the inbuild crusher

A 3. way is to add a noise profile as LFO control, but that also have a tendency to 'crackle', which in fact is also in the link you gave :p His crackles a LOT.
