use MIDI controller like pc keyboard? Connect and use multiple presets simultaneous

Hello dear lmms lovers,

I own lmms for more than a year now and I'm really happy with this sweet piece of software. Especially zynaddsubfx is the real deal. I thought it's about time to get a proper midi controller such as a piano keyboard (Alesis Q49).

So far I haven't found how to control every selected instrument/piano roll by just pressing the keys without assigning it to my midi controller every time. It's working for my computer keyboard all the time. I just select any instrument or open the piano roll and it plays the selected instrument when I press a key on my keyboard. Is it possible to use my midi keyboard just like my computer keyboard without the inconvenient selecting of input/output of the midi controller for each instrument?

Best regards

afaik there should be a 'array' on your kb, a list where you choose what allocated channel to be active.
This -assumption- i would very much like to have confirmed, by someone who actually own a midi-kb, and are using multiple instruments, with that kb
I will add a few words to your topic tittle :)
I don't want to assign my midi controller to an instrument each time if I just want to press a few notes. For instance in FL my midi keyboard works just like my regular pc keyboard. If I select a kick and press a key I hear a kick. If I select any other stuff it plays the current selected element.

Problem with lmms is, when I assign another instrument/element to my Q49 midi keyboard as shown in the picture (http://imgur.com/a/Qa1o8) it plays previous selected elements also which I clearly don't want. I just would like to hear the current selected element. And de-selecting midi controller every time I want to hear other elements is kind of inconvenient. Technically it already works for pc keyboards, why doesn't it work for midi controllers?

I have removed the picture. The site opens several adds and redirects, and that is not ok! Use something like imGur, or a more civilized temporary site, like Snaggy
