VeSTige Won't Load Sometimes

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I tried searching for topics on this, but no matter what I typed, the Search engine just kept telling me my terms were too common and that it wasn't even gonna bother, so forgive me if this topic already exists.

Something that's bugged me forever is that when I use VeSTige, it seems all fine and good until the next time when I try to load my project to continue working on it. It'll pause and then give me this:

"The VST-plugin [BLANK].dll could not be loaded for some reason.
If it runs with other VST-software under Linux, please contact an LMMS-developer!"

Sometimes I have to reload the project over and over until it all works out, which is one thing when it's only one VST, but when I use multiple VST's, it becomes kind of a Slot Machine of sorts where I just have to keep loading it until I luck out and they all fall into place, or else completely reopen and reconfigure the VST and hope it doesn't happen again the next time. VeSTige in general doesn't get along very well with my computer, which for reference is a Dell Something-or-Other running Windows 10 Home Edition (64-bit). It's nothing fancy, but I don't understand why VeSTige is so... angry. It's baffling.

Any tips? Settings I can edit or whatever to optimize performance? Or do I just have to deal with it?

That im afraid is the reason. What i dont get, is how you have identified a general Vestige problem on your pc?
Can you explain that, then perhaps it is possible to get a grip on the actual problem.

Not with the current level of info, but
please post your:
* lmms vers
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most important)
* lmms sound device chosen
* names and best download links of the failing vst's
Or do I just have to deal with it?
Hope not

Well, first of all, thank you! Good to be here. Been using LMMS for like five or six years, and it's about time I joined the forums.

Second of all, in general, VeSTige is just very unstable on my computer. If it doesn't do what I've already described, then it'll just crash because I pushed a certain button or hit play/pause at the wrong time, etc. Very unpredictable.

My LMMS version is 1.1.3.

As far as specs, let's see...

Processor: Intel Pentium CPU G3220 @3.00 GHz
RAM: 4.00 GB
Soundcard: Realtek High Definition v6.0.1.7544

LMMS sound device chosen: SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer)

As far as specific VST's, every VST I've ever used does the same thing. Pretty sure it's just VeSTige. Still, the ones I'm using lately are:

DSK SF2: http://www.dskmusic.com/dsk-sf2/

and

MT Power DrumKit 2: http://www.powerdrumkit.com/download76187.php

Hi.
The good news is, that your specs are more than adequate, to handle Lmms.
So no worries there. :D

Alot of Vst's and Lmms don't seem to like each other. Which explains the crashing and freezing.
And I don't see those two, on the Lmms vst wiki list.

Did you try Synth 1?
http://www.geocities.jp/daichi1969/softsynth/
That vst is more than guaranteed, to work well in Lmms for windows.
If possible, try Synth 1 and tell us how it goes.

Also, ( I don't know how I forget this method sometimes) but according to the Lmms wiki
you can just drag a dll into Lmms, without using vestige.
Using the side bar, located on the left hand side of the lmms work screen, find the Vst dll
by browsing for its folder location, then drag it into the song editor.
And wait for it to load properly. Hopefully, this method works.

Well, when I drag a .dll onto the instrument rack, it opens it through VeSTige.

As for Synth1, I've actually used this synth a long time ago, and if memory serves, I loved it. Went ahead and downloaded the latest version of that just now, and strangely, it absolutely refuses to load it. I get that same error every time.

Update: downloaded more stable version of Synth1 from different source; works now. Will update on whether or not it behaves.

Update 2: Yup, works great.

Although I'd really like an alternative to SF2 Player, as it seems to screw a lot of Soundfonts up, hence why I was using DSK SF2, which is way better, but through VeSTige, is less stable.

Ahh :) - But the VST-issue is new then!

DSK SF2:
Haa.. you use a VST to plsy SF2 /SFx files, that could be a big part of this!
MT Power DrumKit 2:
dont know it, but other kits can work fine'

Actually only the blogspot from our list should be used. There are many fake vsts..
Update 2: Yup, works great.
So if i understand your last update, this is solved?
I will recommend you to not play sf2 files through vestige, i actually think it could be the real reason for your issue in whole :)
Although I'd really like an alternative to SF2 Player,
That is on its way. from next release lmms support giga-player-files
Hey, all. Sorry I disappeared for a while. A massive bout of depression hit me and I couldn't muster the energy to make music.

Anyhow, the problem is still present, after all. I can get around it by just reloading over and over until it decides to behave, but it's still irksome.

Regarding my use of a VST to play soundfonts; DSK SF2 is slightly superior to SF2 Player in that it has more controls and seems to cooperate with a lot of soundfonts that SF2 Player won't. Like, the samples loop properly. I largely use soundfonts to make video game-ey music, and I really prefer when they don't sound broken, haha.

Well, that's all, folks.

Seeya 'round.

Edit: OH, and the Synth1 VST I downloaded from a third party is just fine. Doesn't seem to be infected, and it functions way better than the other one. It's version 1.12 2010.5.
