I was experimenting with "pumping" and ran into what may be a problem. I hooked a peak controller to a channel with a kick drum, then connected the volume of a ZynAddSubFX track to it. I am not, however, getting any volume changes.
I'm pretty sure I hooked everything up properly, as I can see the volume knob on the ZynAddSubFX track jumping up and down in time to the kick drum. I'm just not hearing any volume changes. I have no problem when pumping a Triple Oscillator track.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is ZynAddSubFX not compatible with the peak controller?
UPDATE:
I spent some time working with the plugin to try and see what the problem was, and I learned something that may be of use to someone else. The ZynAddSubFX plugin does not respond to volume changes mid-note. Adjusting the volume will not take effect until a new note is played.
If you wish to use a peak controller on a ZynAddSubFX track, direct the output to another channel, and connect the channel's volume to the peak controller. This allows volume changes to take place immediately.
