Live recording and Automation track bug

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Well, I asked two questions based on live recording and automation track, but it seems nobody replied me. I am asking again.

Live recording

I know you can record a tune in the piano roll when you play with the piano keys. I want to know if we can record on the Song Editor? I mean, suppose you used some samples, and you click "Play" on the song editor, and you want to record this sound. Can we? I am asking because when the song is playing, we can make some effects live, so it will record the effects simultaneously during playing.

Automation track

The newest version of LMMS has a bug? Because in the previous version, when you use automation track on volume, the yellow bar appeared directly. Now, when you drag and drop the volume icon in the automation track and open it, it seems you have to draw the yellow bar. The same for panning. Help on this!
Hi Angel!
Sorry if you aren't getting much replies, to your questions these days.

Some of us users, are Lmms developers who have been working hard all year long to release 0.4.14. And they probably are so tired, after all that work, they probably took a Holiday off, of the Lmms Forums.

Others are studying at school. Like me. :D

And in my case, my laptop is not working. So I can't help anyone as much as before. Which sucks. :(

I don't know which Lmms you're using. Is it 0.4.13 or 0.4.14?

In the case of Live Recording. I'm not an expert, but I think that option is still in development. There's a possibility it could be in Lmms 0.4.14. But then again,....."because I have no laptop,".........I can't say.
But, It has always been, a much requested feature, by many users.

As for your 2nd question, concerning the "so called bug in the Automation track," I've heard another user mention this same problem. But it could be a deliberate move by the "Lmms developers." They probably changed something, but I'm not sure.

PS: Sorry if I couldn't help much. If I still had my laptop working, it would be "easy," for me to help you with your problem.
Normally, I'm one of those people on the Lmms forum, who is always trying to help Lmms Users. But until my Laptop is working, I won't be up and running in no time. Well for now, that is.

Hopefully, one of the developers, who is not on "vacation" could help you and answer your questions. Keep your fingers crossed. I'm counting on you Lmms developer dudes. :D
I am using the last version. The automation track is a real issue I think. A guy told me they are going to release another update in some weeks, I am not sure it's true or not as they just released one recently.
I am using the last version
Open lmms
click help
choose about
There you can read the version. That what you need to write here -'latest' is too vague.
No you cant record in song-editor. The buttons should be 'grayed out', /removed,because they are a feature that never was implemented -planned, but not made.

The 'bar' in automation apears imediately if you have any other value than zero For everything. -eg If you leave panning on center, or voluem at 0 , there will only be one small 'dot', but if you change value even one percent, you will have the bar. This is intended.
B.r.
The version is 0.4.14.

For the automation track, let's describe it as a demo.

-I drag a sample in the bassline editor
-I open the piano-roll and make a tune with that sample
-I clicked on the automation track of the bassline editor itself, it appears below the sample
-I drag the volume icon of the sample to the automation track (CTRL key + drag)
-In the previous version, the yellow bar already appears when you dragged. But this newest version, nothing appears, however, it tells me the sample has been dragged as the title changed
-I open the automation track, nothing appears

Test it and hope to get a reply....
-In the previous version, the yellow bar already appears when you dragged.
i think you may remember this incorrectly. I believe it always has shown an empty container IF !!! the value of the controller was 0

o.4.14 does not show the 'tiny dot' if the value of the controller BEFORE it is dragged, has a value different from 0, and i dont think that has changed (not sure.. though)

I made a test yesterday and if the value isent 0, the full blocky-bar in the whole container is made imediately, also for pan and volume
Isent that the case for you?

Which 0.4.14 exactly is that? The Ubuntu 13.04 packages for 0.4.14 are from March 10th, and there's been a code commit mentioning automation on the 23rd...

Just tried the current git version, and the bug is there.
Nope, the same for me. Does not appear... It is a bug, a real one. Even the controller would be zero or whatever, I don't think the developers had to change it. In fact, I don't see big amelioration in the updates. Same VST issues, and other problems.
AUTCH <red face> i still had rc1 installed and the shortcut pointed to rc1 :/
sorry - definately a bug, and also a bad one. i will report and describe the situation -sorry.
A bug is a bug my friend, it's a real bad one because it is crystal clear they have not made any testing after updating LMMS. A very bad and unacceptable bug. I am asking myself if it is a dying project...like many other open source software..
