Effects disconnect upon setting MIDI controller

I have a problem. Upon setting a MIDI controller (usually CH1 CTRL1) to an effect, the effect disconnects from the MIDI source and the original channel.
Though upon RMB it says "Plugin enabled", I don't see that yellow light.
EDIT: even the Windows version does that. Upon seeing that many have MIDI issues with the latest versions, I think I'll downgrade.

BUMP, as I could get minimal success with Windows versions.
I want to use a MIDI on a VST effect called KeroVee, a pitch corrector.

What OS are you on?
I don't use any of the midi functions myself but I've seen reports of midi borking up since ~0.4.14RC or so.
Try the 0.4.13 version if you're using something released after that one.

But first double check with a VST effect that is known to work.

I tried the Windows 0.4.13 version, but the plugin still doesn't want to work with MIDI. I had success with a LADSPA plugin, but I can't rewire LADSPA plugins right now. Can you give me any advice on applying MIDI on effects?
