Usually when a song is this slowly proggressing,
there needs to be small details and attention grabbing
elements added to keep the listener's interest.

Here for first 55 seconds, there is 2 instruments playing
what is arguably a very bare bones melody. The melody
doesn't really move in any direction. It's pretty mind
numbing. On top of this, the bell preset you used, 'Vibraphone.xiz',
is very basic and doesn't sound interesting at all if used as the main
melody, especially if the listener has used lmms for years and
has heard everyone using this same preset for thousands of times.

Usually to add interest to these type of songs, the producer adds
various small attention grabbing effects along the way.
It could be some small percussion fill or just a reversed cymbal
every once in a while. Anything. you have done nothing like this,
which again makes the listener lose their attention to the song faster.

Let's talk about the mixing. I'm really worried about the "PLUCK_1_ZYN"
aka the 'bass 2' preset you are using, and the reverb you put on it.
There is some nasty 200HZ frequencies in the sound and the reverb is
spreading them all over your face, which results in a muddy mix.
In general I would really take a look at the different frequency ranges
of the instruments and do some EQing to achieve a cleaner mix.

In conclusion, this project is like a skelenton of a song that has potential
to be good. You put no attention to small detail, which is very important
with slowly proggressing electronic music. The whole project seems very rushed,
which results in a very mediocre song.

I would not give this more than 2 stars.

Also, if you upload multiple versions of your song, consider deleting the older versions, so you don't flood the front page with the same projectPosted by: Squatro on 2018-12-11 21:41:30
