Have different timings/track in BB editor

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
My BB Editor (Linux 1.2 RC8 AppImage) is behaving strangely.

My project is in 5/4 time. I picked that not because I was thinking about it, but it turned out that the melody I was working lined up nicely in that time-signature. Start of the phrase at the start of a bar.

In the BB Editor some of the instruments are 4 steps per 1/5 of a bar, while others are 8 steps over the same distance. I don't know if it's something I did that caused that, but I can't find a way to undo it.

And as I was double checking this to write this post, I've realized something: it's playing the different timings at the same speed: the 8 step tracks are playing at half the speed of the 4-step tracks. As a result, trying to "line things up" doesn't work between the two timings. I've been staring at that for ages trying to figure out what was going on...

Maybe I "added more steps" and put notes out at the end, so that when I "removed steps" later on it compressed them? But I just did an experiment, and removing steps deletes anything "off the end" (to my dismay).

How can I fix this? I feel like I'm missing something obvious... Aaaand I've posted it in the wrong topic. Sigh.

Firstly ..Hope i understand your issue, but
There cant be a different timing only in BBe!
LMMS only have one timing, and that is the BPM gadget. That is for everything!
But
'Timing' is relative! (helllloooo Mr Einstein....... :)
Some times you like to find a BPM for i song, so you TAB the rhythm, and count the hits of the kick.
Default LMMS has 140 BPM, and that is a very common BPM in EDM
Now suppose the song only set kick on 1 and 3 beat!
Now if you count, you will get the result '70'
It will appear like the song is at 70 BPM!
Just as your:

No it is not playING in half speed, it sounds like it!

That is actually going to be your challenge!
You need to find positions for percussion-notes (in piano-roll), where the percussion still 'fits' the changes

Thats is going to be fiddly ...

I'll upload an image when I get home (at work now) (in fact, I'll upload the whole WiP song in the Sharing section). But here's what happens. Upon PLAY I hear the sounds of the 4-step instruments, and the first half of the 8-step instruments. Once the 4-step instruments come to an end, it continues to play the last half of the 8-step instruments only, and THEN loops. Had me totes confused trying to figure that out... To quote Urkle, "Did I do thaaat?"

I want to say "4-steps per beat" and "8 steps per beat" but not sure of my nomenclature. The point is that the 8-step squares are half the visual size of the 4-step squares.

I'm using the BB editor basically just to get more familiar with it - at least it can show more than one instrument at a time. Making a multi-instrument Beat track with the Piano Roll seems... like it'd be difficult (involving a lot of beat-counting and flipping back and forth between the different Piano Rolls.

Contrary to the sage advice in the tutorial, I do not start a beat knowing exactly what I want it to sound like... I modify it until I like it, usually by playing it along with the rest of the song. IANAM - I am not a Mozart. I am not even a Musician, by most definitions. But *I* really like the songs I've made. That's all that counts for me.

It just occurred to me that I could zoom up the Song Editor and kinda maybe use that to see how different tracks relate... I'll try that when I get home.
Well can't log in to Sharing. But here's a screen shot. See the different sized steps? Is this a Feature or a Bug?

That... doesn't look like an image to me... sigh. Ohwell.
