By the way, does anybody know how to turn 0:24 into a .gif? Or even an image? I think I need to turn this into my avatar.

Are you using windows?

Pause youtube video at desired location, go to search tool on windows, search for 'Snipping tool', when the snipping tool pops up and you choose 'New', your screen will white out, drag a box around what you want captured and it will then save as an image you can save to your computer.

Cause on 'mine' you do not have to mute the sound! On the contrary CRANK IT UP!!!!

That snipping thing is smart!
But in fact you can
* pause any video
* press Print Scren -key
* Open any image-editor
* hold ctrl and press v

Then just do any and all edits to the picture you captured

To build a gif from a youTube vid, you can use most gif-editors. instagiffer is free and simple to use :)

Mute the sound? MUTE THE SOUND?? What do you have against Jean-Jacques Perry??

Thanks, by the way, I didn't know instagiffer was a thing! The only ways I knew of making videos into .gifs was Photoshop and Gimp (the latter being to complicated and the former being out of my price range... and also probably too complicated). I'll give that a try, thanks! And I forgot about printscreen... the snipping tool is new to me.

And of course now I can't figure out how to make the image small enough to upload as my avatar without losing all definition. How did you guys do it??

I use SnapCrab on windows.
Pause video, select area of the screen/pic/vid, you want to capture, press button to take a snapshot etc. The image will be in png format.

You need to resample the graphic. GIMP can scale like that
