VST Instruments Showing Up in Effects Rather Than Instrument

I have the current Windows 10 version. I downloaded two instruments "Dexed" and "Charlatan" and I placed them in the VST folder I created, but no matter what I've do they still manage to pop up in effects rather than the instrument menu. I put them in the folder that got extracted with them, and I moved them to another section and I still have the same issue. I'm kinda new to making music so I am wondering if there is something I am doing wrong. I have the VST plugins in C:\Program Files\LMMS\plugins\VST so I would think they would work just fine, but the instruments show up in effects.

I can understand your expectation.
But in general
Everything that is in \Program Files 'belongs' to LMMS.
You own stuff is found in the Document\LMMS path
So your own VSTs instruments should go into a folder into a folder in Document\LMMS path
That makes it easy for you to backup your own stuff, when you update
So something like
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\lmms\presets\VST\
Would do fine
The VST effects-plugins are tricky, because in order to show up in the Add-effect-window you must link to them in the Edit| Settings


Here this user has chosen to share his Audacity VST folder with LMMS.
So he can use the same VST-effects in both programs.

I have put them into My Documents, but they still show up in effects. All the effects I downloaded work just fine, but the instruments do not show up at all when I go to the add instrument menu. They only show up when I select to add effects.
