F4 to open/close side panel

it's a pretty common keybinding in all sorts of applications: F4 opens & closes a side panel or sidebar.

As F4 doesn't seem bound to anything rn, might be a nice extra ergonomic touch.

I imagine this could go into github as a "good first project" for someone ?

Makes sense. "Good first" covers that the description is of importance for the understanding of the bug/ issue, there was a appeal for 'junior-jobs' but that was never implemented
