How to load Vestige

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I'm trying to use some vst plugins, but Vestige is not in my list.
Running on ubuntu v24.04, wine is installed. LMMS is v1.2.2.
How do I get Vestige?

I tried using the .AppImage, but after downloading it and flagging it as executable it does nothing.

Tia.
I did finally get the appimage to work, and it does have Vestige. Cool.
So I've downloaded a half dozen vst2 plugins (dll files) both 32-bit and 64-bit.
None of them work. <sigh>
Does anybody have a vst plugin that they know works with Vestige?
After reading through this forum (the search function doesn't work for me) I see that the problem is that LMMS v1.2.2 does not work properly with Wine v9.0, which Ubuntu 24.04 installs by default.

I have tried several methods to install Wine v.8.0 and v.8.2, all of which end in undefined dependency issues. I give up.

So my choices are to either abandon LMMS or find a linux distro that installs a version of Wine previous to v9.0.

Yes WINE9 is a drag.
First thing you should do is to contact you distro package-manager and directly ask how your distro of linux can run a pre-WINE9. If it is possible he should know.
Another good resource for linux knowledge is Linux-musicians https://linuxmusicians.com/ Those users knows a lot about making linux works with WINE, and they may be able to help.
A final option is LMMS 1.3
Even though i usually do not recommend 1.3 for daily use (production) it is widely used, and should be ok in most circumstances. Let us know if pacMan or Linux-musicians can help in the firsts place, and if not then let us know, and we will take it from there-
Yay, I got it working! I found yet another tutorial on how to downgrade Wine that worked.
I can now use vst2 plugins in Vestige using the 1.2.2 AppImage.
I'll create another thread explaining how.

Thx for your help!

That depends on your linux distro.
You need to contact your package-manager and ask what you have to do for your specific distro.
Besides that, since you are new in Forum
