The "M WAVE" MIDI keyboard is plug-and-play via USB. This usually means that the MIDI controller is USB Class Compliant. You shouldn't need to do anything fancy to get your computer to recognize it; it shows up as a USB MIDI device in (most) modern operating systems. This is true for a lot of USB MIDI Controllers.
In general, pads on USB MIDI controllers send MIDI Note Velocity messages (just like the keys).
Tapping a pad should send a normal MIDI Note Velocity (note on) message at least.
In LMMS, after you've loaded up an instrument or a sound, right-click on the corresponding "cog" icon, and you ought to find a menu item of MIDI >> Input >> [] (checkbox). Select this and then tap on your USB MIDI Keyboard keys as well as the pads and listen to hear if you're getting a result.
On thing to be aware of, keep the USB MIDI controller plugged into your computer BEFORE you turn the computer on, and leave it plugged in after you turn the computer off. Even though computer mice and computer keyboards can be disconnected and reconnected "live" (on the fly), USB MIDI devices aren't always picked up fully by various links "in the chain".
Also, USB sometimes gets turned off by operating system powersaving settings; this will temporarily make the USB MIDI keyboard unresponsive. So if you have a way of disabling USB powersaving, you might need to do that if your device seems "dead" all of a sudden.
Usually, however, you can get good results by switching to a different USB port or even using a powered USB hub (to maintain constant USB power).
Sorry if this is too much information.
Let us know if this helps and if it works out.
P.S. - if it's still not working, you might need to peek at LMMS's settings (preferences) inside the program. There's a specific section for MIDI.
