Midi import from Korg M1

Great program you've got here.

I'm just starting out and have a query I hope you can help me with.

I use a Korg M01 workstation program on my Nintendo DS to sketch songs whilst on the move.

When I import the midi file into LMMS, the drum patterns appear as one whole element. ie with Kick,snare, hihat, toms etc in one part. There are 12 instruments in the drum part.

Ideally I would like all instrument parts to come in a separate elements.
Is it possible to quickly bring in the song and auto assign it to the correct instruments in LMMS.

For instance, can I set up a template so all midi elements on the 12 drum parts are brought in in separate parts in the B & B editor, so all I have to do is change the instrument (or set up a template with the instruments so I can just import in).

As I say I'm just starting out on this and I may well be looking at the usage in completely the wrong manner.

So any help would be very much appreciated.

unfortunately, no -but its not lmms fault. in midi all 'instruments' belonging to percussion, are placed in a dedicated track. When lmms loads a midi, it will load each midi-track in a new preset-track, where the default sf2 is used. You can get a fairly acceptable drumline, if you use the General-midi-sf2 patch, but it is best to simply disregard the mixed midi-percussion-track, and create a new percussion from scratch, in Beat&Bass-editor
You will also get much better quality, if you replace all instrument sf2, with better lmms-presets. They have better dynamic, and you can do much more on fx's.

As musicBear says, Midi is meant to be played with Soundfonts, and Soundfonts have one drum on each note.
