IDM on LMMS?

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Hello LMMS forums. I have always been a fan of IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) and I wanted to see the viability of the genre on LMMS. Do any artists on the forum create any IDM using LMMS? (IDM is music that Aphex Twin, Autechre, etc create). For those of you who don't know what IDM is, IDM is like experimental techno with breakbeats and glitchy effects added in (e.g. Aphex Twin's Minipops 67). Thanks!

You might want to check that Wiki page you linked, because ironically enough it has this tidbit:
In a September 1997 interview, Aphex Twin commented on the 'Intelligent Dance Music' label:

"I just think it's really funny to have terms like that. It's basically saying 'this is intelligent and everything else is stupid.' It's really nasty to everyone else's music. (laughs) It makes me laugh, things like that. I don't use names. I just say that I like something or I don't."
I have to say that I agreed with most of the quotes in the criticism section, I don't understand the point of this "genre." It seems like something that originated as a joke but was actually taken seriously. Regardless, you asked a question.

I'm not aware of any LMMS artists that make "IDM", sorry for my lack of usefulness for my level of criticism :)
It's a genre. The criticism of the term is mostly for the name (Aphex Twin hates it). Aphex apparently prefers broader terms for his music. The range of artists that are included in the genre is very very small (about 9 or 10 really famous ones), Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Machinedrum, The Orb and Radiohead all come to mind (there are more though). It's definitely a genre, just kind of a weird one. I was just wondering if any LMMS artists made anything like it.
never heard of it, so i googled
This came up

Is that represantative?
... hmm
There's no reason lmms couldn't be used for idm however it would be a pretty intense task. A lot of idm is made by taking a sample of a beat and manipulating it via pitch shifting and time stretching then layering and arranging these manipulated beats into patterns(or just seemingly random insanity as the case may be). Unfortunately lmms doesn't allow for more complicated and straight forward sample editing the way a program like reaper does. At the same time plenty of idm folks use trackers and place every note and drum hit individually, Venetian Snares does this for example with a program called renoise. Lmms is not a tracker of course but you could emulate this approach using a vst drum machine the piano roll.
