Making LMMS a writable MIDI client in JACK

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Using Ubuntu Studio 19.10
LMMS 1.1.3.
Jackd version 1.9.12
Using a digital piano connected through a mio MIDI > USB interface, which shows up in JACK under ALSA and connects to other software this way.

Hi, trying to use LMMS for the first time and I'm not able to route any MIDI input to LMMS from JACK. With audio, I was able to select "JACK" as my audio interface, and it seems to be working just fine.

With MIDI, there is no JACK option. I have ALSA Seq which I'm able to select, but doesn't seem to do anything. ALSA raw reverts to Dummy. I also have OSS and Dummy options. A quick search of the issue brings up people instructing me to select JACK for MIDI, which leads me to believe the option should be there, or can be installed somehow.

I've tried running a MIDI to ALSA bridge. No experience using that (All my other software shows up in JACK without issue), but just brought up readable and writable entries under MIDI. Connecting them to "system" had no effect on LMMS.

Also tried the obvious apt-get update/upgrade.

Thanks for anyone who can provide assistance.

Any and all issues you have, could come from the fact that you use a very outdated LMMS!
You must update!
First Backup!

Then get new correct version for Linux, and ONLY this one:
https://lmms.io/download#linux
Follow the guidelines on this page on how to activate the appImage
After you have followed these guides, and everything is in 1.2.1 condition, retry and see if your issue persists
Let us know the outcome :)
