Major Issues With Audio Playback

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I've been using LMMS for about a year now and like it. I don't know what version I have and it's running on Windows 10, like most modern day computers. I do not know if there is a bug/glitch with the program, but here is what's going on with me program...

On 90% of the time, whenever I click on a sound to hear how it's going to be (the plugin/samples I'm reffering to) it has a very weird audio change. It echo's and then changes octaves, so whatever I hear the first time, its going to be different the second time. This is very aggravating because I'm wanting to produce music/DJ and it sounds terrible when I'm trying to make music. I no equilzers or effects on my computers audio or effects on LMMS itself. So whats going on? I've noticed LMMS has not had a new update in a couple years, so it makes me thing they've given up on such a great program. What do you all think about my glitch?

I don't know what version I have

That is very easy to see. It is written in the top of the program

The blue line shows the name of the project
The red line is under the version of LMMS
1.2.1 is our newest version.
If you have anything else, you should update.

That could be because you have an old version, but it is more likely because you have a wrong sound-interfase/ backend
All Windows users should use SDL

First check up on your version
If its outdated, follow these guidelines:

If you do have 1.2.1 already, check your backend Settings:
